On a lighter note a story was done on us and our travels in the Yorke Peninsula Country Times

Around-Australia adventure for Frost family

FOR the past 14 months, the Frost family — David (formerly of Kadina), Tanya and Kiera — have been calling an old school bus from Maitland home. Living in Perth and tired of the stress of daily life and work, David and Tanya decided to plant their ultimate adventure.“We decided we wanted to travel Australia so we searched the internet and bought a 1982 Inter -national bus from Maitland for $6000,”David said.It took David, who is a boilermaker by trade, three years to turn the old bus into a home on wheels and deck out the 1986Pajero they tow behind.“The bus has a double bed, bunk beds, a toilet and a shower,” David said.“With a fridge, freezer, two reverse-cycle air-conditioners, a gas stove and hot water we are very comfortable.”The family left Perth in August 2012 and stopped in Kadina for a few weeks before starting their around-Australia adventure.Since then the Frosts have spent time in Penola, Borrona Downs and Broken Hill.“Most recently, we have been looking after the old racecourse and working for a couple of engineering companies in Broken Hill,” David said.“We helped with St Pats races, fixing the grandstand before the race.”Tanya home schools Kiera on the road and the family has met plenty of colourful characters, some of which have become good friends. One of these friends is artist Howard Steer who is painting a mural on the bonnet of the Pajero and will include the town names of Kadina, Wallaroo and Moonta as well as the YPCT logo.David said on average the bus will travel two kilometres per litre of fuel while towing the 4WD.“Some people nearly die with shock,” he said.“But we just say to move your house and travel for that sort of money is great.“Your backyard is different every time you move and if you don’t like your neighbours you just move again.”The Frosts have plans to travel back to Kadina at the end of the year to catch up with family and friends for Christmas.
